Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez celebrates after scoring the opening goal in his side's 3-1 Champions League win over Sporting.
Barcelona defender Rafa Marquez gave a press conference after training today, emphasising that the only worry for the Blaugrana is to "maintain their pace" in La Liga as they continue to hold a five-point lead over Real Madrid.

"We are 100% concentrated on ourselves. The affairs outside the dressing room do not affect us and the the team continues to work in the same way, trying to win every match," said Marquez in comments reported by Marca.

"There are rivalries and there will always be differing opinions, but we are doing things well no matter what they say. We have to make them [Real Madrid] worry about their five-point disadvantage."

With respect to Barca's defensive improvements, the Mexican recognised that daily work was bearing fruit. "The coach has focused a lot on our defensive duties and the results are showing. Now we have more experience in the system we are employing and this is being reflected in our play."

With respect to a much improved showing against Sporting on Marquez's part, he assured that he is "better physically, and I hope to continue like this for what is left of the season".
