Barcelona Star Xavi: We Can Win Beat Atletico Madrid Despite Our Injuries
The Barca playmaker has confidence in his team-mates...
By Paul Madden
Barcelona midfielder Xavi has insisted that the Primera Liga champions can win away to Atletico Madrid on Sunday night despite a host of injuries and suspensions at the back.
With Gerard Pique and Rafael Marquez suspended after red cards against Getafe last weekend, coach Pep Guardiola's options in defence are decimated with Dani Alves, Eric Abidal and Dmytro Chygrynskiy all absent through injury for the trip to Madrid.
"It's a shame we have so many casualties at the back," he told Sport.
"We have different options to play in Madrid and, as always, we're going there to win, to compete and to take all three points."
"Traditionally it's a difficult venue for us but we'll see what happens. Whoever plays will do well, even player's from the reserve team."
