Victor Valdes will become the third highest capped goalkeeper in Barcelona history when the Blaugrana take on Atletico Madrid on Sunday night.

The Catalan custodian is set to make bring his Primera Liga appearance tally to 247 at the Vicente Calderon, just 54 games shy of the record held by Andoni Zubizarreta.

Having renewed his contract with the champions last summer the 27-year-old seems certain to surpass that 301 number, overtaking second placed Antoni Ramallets who represented Barca 288 times and won five Zamora trophies during his 15 year stay at the club between 1947 and 1962.

Valdes has already become Barca's most successful keeper having won 11 medals in his seven years as first choice goalkeeper but he is still a long way off Zubizarreta's overall Primera Liga record of 622 appearances amassed over 17 years while playing for Athletic Bilbao, Barca and Valencia.
