Grinning from ear to ear before Marca microphones in the wake of Atletico de Madrid's 2-1 win against Barcelona at the Vicente Calderon, Los Colchoneros supremo Enrique Cerezo spoke with pride about his team, which "is the only one that has beaten the best team in the world".
Speaking of Atletico's rapidly changing image as a team wrought with failure to one of championship-quality football, Cerezo simply said that "we are Atletico and some matches turn out well and others not so well", further commenting that "whenever Barca lose here, they win La Liga".
The Rojiblanco chief ended by commenting on the Liga race between Barcelona and Real Madrid, adding: "I have always said that Madrid begins every season with a nine-point advantage: the three that they always earn at the Vicente Calderon, the three they win against us at the Bernabeu, and the three that Barcelona leave here [the Vicente Calderon]."
