Barcelona Midfielder Andres Iniesta Insists Champions Must Cope With Injuries
The midfield dynamo can't explain the sudden bout of casualties...
By Paul Madden
Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has admitted that the champions are experiencing a difficult period in the season as injuries to key players continue to mount.
With midfield maestro Xavi the latest player to be injured, Barcelona are now without the services of five first team regulars with Eric Abidal, Dani Alves, Dmytro Chygrynskiy, Seydou Keita and Yaya Toure all on the sidelines but Iniesta insists the Blaugrana must deal with the injuries.
"We are going through a difficult time in that regard, we are running out of important players. Everything remains the same so it is difficult to understand why [there are so many injuries]," he is quoted as saying by Sport.
"In theory, with weeks off [due to Copa del Rey exit] you can prepare better. The team and the coaches are doing the right things but we must live with the injuries."
