Asked to comment on Real Madrid's 6-2 victory against Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu last weekend, Barcelona president Joan Laporta admitted to not having watched the match, coyly responding: "I saw a 2-6 a year ago", in reference to Barcelona's thrashing of Los Blancos last season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

As reported by Sport, Laporta added that instead of watching the match, he was celebrating the Barcelona basketball team's Copa del Rey title claimed with a victory over Real Madrid in the final yesterday.

Finally, asked to comment on Cristiano Ronaldo's idolisation at the Spanish capital, Laporta commented that the Lionel Messi/Ronaldo comparisons were motivational. "I imagine that they are also thinking of who scores the most goals or gives the most assists. It is something every professional aspires to."
