Barcelona centre half Gerard Pique has reached an agreement with the club on a contract extension that will see him remain at Camp Nou until 2015, according to Marca.

A product of Barca's highly successful youth system the 23-year-old central defender returned to Catalunya in 2008 after a four year spell with Premier League giants Manchester United and immediately established himself as an integral part of the Blaugrana side that went on to capture an unprecedented six trophies in the intervening 18 months.

His advisor, Arturo Canales, had met with club officials over Christmas to discuss terms on an extended deal with his prior agreement set to expire in 2012.

The exact details of the agreement are not known but it is understood that his buy-out clause, previously set at
€50 million, has been increased to in excess of €100 million.
