Barcelona are reportedly tracking the progress of talented young Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen according to Sport.

The Dane, who turned 18 just last month, made his debut for the Amsterdam outfit earlier this year against NAC Breda and has made a number of appearances since, mainly as a late substitute for Martin Jol's side.

Operating as an attacking midfielder Eriksen has already been compared with Danish football legends Michael and Brian Laudrup and has received his first international call up to the Denmark national team for tomorrow's friendly against Austria.

It is understood that Barca scouts watched the young midfielder in last week's Europa League game against Juventus with Blaugrana coach Pep Guardiola seeking a detailed report on his performance.

Eriksen signed a three year deal with Ajax in October 2008 when he signed from Odense BK in Denmark and Arsenal are also reported to be watching the young star under the recommendation of Dennis Bergkamp.
