Valencia Set To Offer Jeremy Mathieu Two Year Contract Extension
The club aim to keep the French defender until 2014...
By Paul Madden
The French defender was Unai Emery's first signing for Los Che when he joined from Toulouse last summer, initially on a three year deal.
His performances since have seen him establish himself as first choice left back at the club and Valencia officials are keen to tie the 26-year-old to a long term deal to ward off interest from other clubs after an impressive start to his time in Spanish football.
Mathieu is currently injured after suffering ligament damage in a recent Europa League tie and will not feature for Valencia again until the end of the season but the club are already preparing to extend his contract, aiming to complete the deal before the summer.
