Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has warned Sevilla that they will face a different team to the one they beat 2-1 in Andalusia earlier this season.

"We had just started playing together when we first faced Sevilla this season but we are more mature now," he told a press conference.

The former Liverpool man went on to speak about the forthcoming El Clasico but was quick to remind his team-mates that they had three very important games coming up.

"We know our match against Barcelona will be important," he said. “We must now focus on Sevilla, followed by Lyon and then Valladolid. Looking too far ahead can make you lose perspective, which is very dangerous."

Real host Lyon on Wednesday hoping to overcome a 1-0 deficit from the first leg and Alonso is confident that the roar of the Madridistas will help los Blancos into the quarter-finals.

"We still have to play 90 minutes against Olympique Lyonnais at the Bernabeu. We believe we may turn the score around if we combine our style with the support of our fans."

Finally, Alonso spoke of Spain’s victory in France last night, admitting that while he didn’t think La Roja were on top form at Stade de France, Vicente del Bosque’s men were concentrating on the positives.

"Our game yesterday may not have been our best, but positive things were seen throughout. We were solid and experienced no problems in defence. Our collective efforts were fantastic."
