Barcelona midfielder Xavi thinks it's way too early to be talking about next month’s El Clasico that sees Barca travel to the Bernabeu to face Real Madrid.

“It is far too early to talk about el Clasico, but I know it is a game everyone enjoys,” he told a press conference.

Barcelona are currently two points ahead of Real Madrid going into round 25 of the domestic league and Xavi went on to admit that while he was pleased with the Blaugrana's form, things were certainly becoming tight at the top of the table.

“I have a good feeling and we are doing well in the league. We both know what we have to do as we wait for one or the other to stumble and then we have to take advantage.”

Finally, Xavi offered some words of support for team-mate Thierry Henry who has recently been singled out for criticism both in Spain and back home in France.

“I do not agree with the critics who say he is finished. He is a great professional. Players that score goals for a living often have these runs and the only thing they need to do is recover their confidence as soon as possible."
