Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has pinpointed the club’s devastating attack as the key factor in their superb come from behind victory over Sevilla on Saturday evening.

The visitors had led 2-0 before a stunning second half comeback handed Manuel Pellegrini’s side the initiative in the Primera Division title race thanks to Barcelona’s draw in Almeria.

Alonso heaped praise on Los Blancos’ incisive offensive display as a major contributing factor to their success this season, and he told journalists after the match, “It was a hectic game. From the middle of the first half we pushed to score, and being 2-0 down put us in a difficult situation.

“We were confident that we would overcome them [Sevilla]. We scored two goals quickly, and the third goal will give us a lot of morale. We have great potential in attack, and with this balance we are difficult to stop.”

Alonso was unfortunate to net an own goal in the first half and added that they must continue to improve in defence to achieve success.

He added, “Today we created lots of chances, the two goals we conceded are errors, and so we must keep improving. We have great confidence at the Santiago Bernabeu and send a message to other teams that it will be difficult to get a result here.”
