Valencia coach Unai Emery has stated that his side’s long injury list will not be used as an excuse should his side fail to defeat Racing Santander on Monday evening.

Los Che are without several first team players for the visit of the Verdiblancos, with Emery suffering a selection headache, particularly in midfield.

However the former Almeria coach has insisted that he trusts in all of the players in his squad, and Marca reports that he said, “There will be no excuses, we hope that the players are ready. I am absolutely convinced that the level of performance in the side is high.

“I trust in our young players and there will be no excuse for defeat.”

Emery added that Racing will prove a difficult opponent, and that he will offer them great respect when setting out his team.

He stated, “Racing have achieved great results away from home in places such as Sevilla, so we must be aware of the difficulty of the match, and not underestimate any rival, but know that the fans are with us.

“Racing press hard and will give us a very intense game, but we must have the confidence that we can win.”
