Barcelona President Joan Laporta 'Convinced' Blaugrana Will Retain League Crown
He insists it's still in the hands of the Catalans....
By Paul Madden
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has declared that he is "convinced" the Blaugrana will retain their Primera Liga title despite relinquishing first place to Real Madrid for the first time since late November.
The champions greatest rivals assumed top spot in the league on goal difference thanks to a last gasp comeback win against Sevilla in a five goal thriller at the Bernabeu but Laporta insists that it's still in Barca's hands and he believes they will win it.
"We depend on us and we should not seek excuses. I am convinced we will win the league because we have a very talented team and we depend on us," he is quoted as saying by Marca.
"The team still has a great hunger for victory. With ten men against Almeria we showed face and we should not be looking for excuses that are not sporting reasons."
