Real Madrid Need Early Goal Against Lyon - Lassana Diarra
Lass confident Merengues will make it to the quarters…
By Rupert Fryer
"We need to pressure, strike fear in our opponent and score early against Lyon,” he told Marca. “I am sure it will be a match much different than the first leg. We need to start off strong and make sure they don't score any goals. Being down 1-0 isn't that bad. There isn't much difference."
The Merengues go into the match a goal behind after a sensational Jean Makoun strike at Stade Gerland last month. Los Blancos’ performance earned widespread criticism that night but Lass is confident his side can overcome the deficit on their home turf.
"The crowd will help a lot, but we also have to take care of our business. The goal is to win both La Liga and the Champions League. I am optimistic and haven't even thought about losing. I am confident everything will turn out for the best."
Finally, the French international admitted this year’s competition held extra motivation for Real, with the final scheduled to be played at the Bernabeu, and that everyone at the club was desperate not to miss out on the chance of lifting the trophy in their own stadium.
"Winning the final at home would be very special. We have a golden opportunity that we cannot let slip through our fingers.”
