I Came To Racing Santander Because My Dream Was To Play In Spain - Markus Rosenberg
New Racing Santander signing Markus Rosenberg has fulfilled his dream of playing in Spanish football.
By Paul Macdonald
The Verdiblancos made a deadline day move for the Swedish international forward and were able to seal a season-long switch from the Bundesliga to the Primera Division.
Speaking to journalists upon his arrival in Cantabria, he said that his ambition to play in Spain had swayed his decision.
“This league is better than the German league, and I believe this Racing team has the ability to aspire to more," he said. “I ignored offers to play in Italy, but I was able to fulfil my dream of coming to Spain.”
Racing president Francisco Pernia was thrilled to secure the deal for Rosenberg, and although there was no option included to buy the player at the end of the season, he hopes that Rosenberg will suitably impress the El Sardinero faithful.
He remarked: “There was no possibility for a purchase option for next season, but we hope that he fulfils expectations. The squad is closed and it is a very good one.”
The 27-year-old struck 30 goals in 90 matches during his three years in Bremen.
