Atletico Madrid's Gregorio Manzano retains confidence in Jose Antonio Reyes
The coach reacted angrily to the suggestion that he no longer has any faith in the Spanish winger after leaving the player on the bench against Rennes

Atletico Madrid coach Gregorio Manzano has insisted that he has not lost confidence in Jose Antonio Reyes.
Former Arsenal winger Reyes has been repeatedly linked with a move to Galatasaray in January and the 28-year-old Spaniard was an unused substitute in the Rojiblancos’ Europa League 3-1 win over Rennes on Thursday night.
However, Manzano lashed out at the press for their negative line of questioning when it was suggested after the game that Reyes no longer has the trust of the coach.
“I have not lost confidence in any player,” the former Espanyol boss is quoted as saying by AS. “Do you think I've lost confidence in [Thibaut] Courtois, for instance?
“The eleven players on the field have done quite well. I do not like pick out individuals.
“Again we are not referring to an important victory. We always focus on the negative.
“No offence, but I think it is vile. Talk to me about things that have happened in the field. When we lose, criticise all you want, but when we win, please, don't.”
Manzano’s future at the Vicente Calderon has been the subject of much speculation of late, with club president Jose Luis Perez Caminero announcing earlier this week that he would be reviewing the coach’s performance to date during the winter break.
Atletico are currently tenth in La Liga but they have progressed to the last 32 of the Europa League as winners of Group I.
