Agent: Lazio offered more than €10 million for Nilmar
The player's representative in Italy revealed that his client came very close to joining the Serie A side on the final day of the winter transfer window

The Italian club were interested in securing a late move for the Brazilian on transfer deadline day after they had failed in their attempts to sign CSKA Moscow's Keisuke Honda.
Gabriele Giuffrida, who is the player's Fifa agent in Italy, explained why the deal did not go through for the forward.
"The time to do the transfer was very limited. Although the two are completely different players, Nilmar was wanted [by Lazio] after the non-arrival of Honda," explained the agent to Il Corriere dello Sport.
"Lazio began to deal with the player and Villarreal last Monday evening, less than a day before the window closed. Despite the restricted time, the two parties were very close to reaching an agreement. [Lazio president] Claudio Lotito made an offer of more than €10 million. Unfortunately for Lazio and their supporters, nothing came of it."
Despite a fee being agreed, Giuffrida claims the deal broke down because Villarreal were looking for the transfer figure to be paid up front.
"Everything was blocked once Villarreal requested the entire payment and this was not possible. Also, another aspect of the story is that there would have needed to be another non-EU place which was not the case at Lazio," he added.
Nilmar is now expected to stay in Spain until the summer, where a transfer away from La Liga looks likely.
