Real Madrid's third effort on Sunday night in their match against Levante, courtesy of prolific attacker Cristiano Ronaldo, marked the club's 4,000th league goal at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Portugal international made it 3-1 in the second half as his shot from 25 yards out nestled in the top right-hand corner of Gustavo Munua's net, as the capital giants completed a 4-2 victory.

Besides reaching such an important milestone in the history of the famous stadium, which opened in December 1947, Ronaldo's third goal also marked his 13th hat-trick in a Madrid shirt since his move from Manchester United in 2009.

Los Blancos' defeat of Levante means they move 10 points clear at the top of the Liga table following Barcelona's 3-2 defeat at Osasuna on Saturday.
