Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has been involved in a traffic accident only one day before the first leg of his side's Champions League round of 16 tie against Bayer Leverkusen, Marca reports.

The centre-back was on his way to Camp Nou on Monday morning, where Pep Guardiola's squad gathered ahead of their trip to Germany, when his car was hit by another vehicle.

Although the door at the driver's side of Pique's car was badly damaged, the former Manchester United starlet walked away from the crash without any serious injuries.

The Spain international parked his car at the side of the road, before taking a cab to the Barcelona ground to join his team-mates.
