ACL Play-Off: UAE's Al Wahda Down Churchill Brothers And End Indian Dreams
It was nice while it lasted for the Goan team...
It was the Goan side who took the lead through their Japanese midfielder Dan Ito just before the break in the 41st minute.
However, they couldn’t hold onto the lead as they conceded at the stroke of half-time with Fernando Baiano scoring for the home side.
Al Wahda started the second session on a strong note as they took the lead in the very first minute through M.Khamis.
This was followed by two quick goals after the hour mark by A.Jumaa and Baiano to increase the misery on the visiting team.
Churchill didn’t give up until the end as Dhanachandra Singh pulled one back in the 77th minute, but soon after they conceded another, as Khamis scored his second, as the final scoreline reading 5-2.
The UAE club shall now play in Group B on the Champions League which has the likes of Al Ittihad and Bunyodkor. Meanwhile, Churchill will play in the AFC Cup.
