Indonesian champions Persipura have successfully appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to compete in the 2012 AFC Champions League (ACL).

Persipura were excluded from the 2012 draw after opting to play in the breakaway Super League which the governing Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) doesn't recognise.

The decision was made by the PSSI not to enter Persipura into the ACL draw which has left officials and fans from the Papua islands disgruntled. Persipura were due to face A-League club Adelaide United in the ACL playoffs.

Persipura had appealed to the PSSI but their wish was not granted, so they took it to the CAS who have accepted their case.

The CAS have accepted Persipura's right to play in the 2012 ACL, and have now requested the PSSI, Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and Adelaide United submit evidence by February 6.

Goal.com understands the decision will be finalised on February 10. If Persipura's wish is granted, it's believed the PSSI faces fines of up to €1.5 million.
