Ali Karimi won't leave Persepolis, says general manager Mohammad Ruyanian
The 33-year-old Iran international midfielder criticised boss Mustafa Denizli last week but the club insists there's no rift and the pair will remain with the Tehran giants
Persepolis general manager Mohammad Ruyanian insists there's no rift between star player Ali Karimi and coach Mustafa Denizli and says the Iran international will remain at the club next season. The 33-year-old former Bayern Munich man had publicly criticised his coach after last week's 1-1 AFC Champions League home draw with Al Gharafa.
Following the criticism, there were several Iranian reports claiming at the season's end Karimi would leave the nine-time Iranian champions, who currently sit way down in 10th in the league.
However, Ruyanian told reporters Karimi and Denizli would both be part of the club next season.
“Karimi will stay in our team. Denizli will also stay in Persepolis” Ruyanian said.
“After the matches against Traktorsazi and Al Hilal, Denizli will announce the players who are surplus to requirements at Persepolis."
Meanwhile, Iran international Hadi Aghily has been linked with a move from Al Arabi to Al Wakrah by Qatari newspaper Al Watan. Aghily is out of contract at the end of the season.
