Al-Ahli’s First-Team Director Abdulmajeed Hussain has expressed his delight following the appointment of new coach Henk ten Cate, heralding the Dutchman’s arrival as the beginning of a new era at the club.

“We have started a new chapter in our history with this appointment,” he told Abu Dhabi newspaper The National. “His fame and reputation need no mentioning.”

Hussain went on to underline the former Ajax manager’s pedigree and reveal his excitement at the arrival of Dutch footballing philosophy in Abu Dhabi.

“He has worked with some of the biggest stars of this generation, so the possibilities for us are limitless.

“He comes from the Dutch school, which is known around the world for their development of young talents and emphasis on total football.”

Finally, Hussain added that the club were convinced they had appointed the right man and that he was certain the Dutchman would have no trouble acclimatising to the Arab world.

“His association with Ahli is a great asset for the club. He will be working in the Arab region, and outside Europe, for the first time, but I don’t believe that will be an issue. The club are confident he is the man to put us on the right path.”
