Japan international striker Mike Havenaar has expressed his delight at being named Goal.com's Asian Player of the Month for October.

The Ventforet Kofu forward, who is currently the joint top scorer in Japan's J-League with 16 goals, netted four times during October for club and country, including a brace on his full international debut against Tajikistan.

“I feel it is an achievement, but I also think I need to keep improving,” Havenaar told Goal.com in an exclusive.

The 24-year-old was earlier this week named as part of Japan's squad which will travel to Tajikistan and North Korea for upcoming 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Havenaar added: “When I have the chance to represent Japan, I want to do my best. We are playing to qualify, we absolutely need to get good results.”
