Takashi Usami: If I'm honest, I would rather not stay at Bayern Munich
The Bavarians are keen to extend the Japan international's stay, but the player is less enthusiastic about their proposal as he wants a club that can give him regular football
By Clark Whitney
Speaking to TZ, the Japanese attacker revealed that the Bavarians are interested in extending his loan stay, but admitted that his preference would be to find another club.
"Bayern have expressed interest in borrowing me for an extra year," he said. "I'm not sure if it will work out this way.
"If I'm honest, I would rather not stay. If there is a team where I can play more and take on a greater role, then I'd rather go there."
Usami moved to Munich last summer on a one-year loan with option to buy for approximately €2 million. Since his arrival, he has struggled to make an impression at the Sabener Strasse: in three appearances for die Roten, he has managed just 50 minutes of play.
"I cannot say if there are other offers. But if there is a good opportunity, I'll think about it."
The 19-year-old Usami has, however, been a regular feature in Bayern's reserve team in the Regionalliga Sud (fourth tier). In 14 matches, he has scored six goals and provided two assists.
