Rummenigge insists Bayern Munich still want to renew Robben's contract
The attacker's current contract is due to expire in the summer of 2013, but the club are desperate to hold on to him for a longer period
By Stefan Coerts
The Netherlands international has lost his spot in the starting XI at Bayern, but the recent developments have not changed the Bavarians' stance on Robben's future at the club.
"We have no doubts about his abilities. The club are still keen to renew his contract. The recent developments have not changed that," Rummenigge was quoted as saying by TZ.
The former Germany international then reflected on Robben's performance in Saturday's 2-0 Bundesliga win over Kaiserslautern, and was pleased with the Dutchman's substitute cameo.
"He immediately looked dangerous after coming on. He could have scored with a bit more luck, and I really wanted him to find the net."
Robben has scored five goals in 12 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern this term.
