Bernard Parker Settling Well At FC Twente
Bafana Bafana striker Bernard Parker says he is settling in well at his new home with Eredivisie side FC Twente after getting his work-permit.
“It’s unfortunate that we didn’t qualify for the Champions League, but the Europa will be a tough competition and I’m really looking forward to it,” Parker said to Kickoff.com.
“But I’m sure we will do well by taking it game by game. Our team doesn’t have regular experience of campaigning in Uefa competitions; that’s why we just need to take this one step at a time. Personally, I’m settling in well after getting over a knee injury.”
During the Confederations Cup, Parker played mostly as a lone striker, but with Katlego Mphela hitting form, it looks like Parker will have a new partner in crime in Saturday’s international friendly match against Germany.
“I don’t know what’s in the coach’s mind, but if I can get a chance to play with Mphela it would be great,” the player added.
“Mphela is doing well and scored in the last match against Serbia, so I think we can really form a good combination. The Confederations Cup was a confidence-booster and I see no reason why we can’t approach the match against Germany in the same spirit.”
