Nacional set sights on Bursaspor's Federico Insua and Liverpool de Montevideo's Emiliano Alfaro - report
The talented pair would strengthen Marcelo Gallardo's squad ahead of their 2012 Copa Libertadores campaign, while rivals Penarol are hoping to sign Rodrigo Mora from Benfica
According to a report by El Pais, Nacional are already in advanced negotiations with the Turkey-based Argentine, who is currently discussing the cancellation of his contract with Bursaspor. Velez Sarsfield coach Ricardo Gareca lent more weight to the rumours, stating recently that his club's enquiries hit a dead end due to the interest from Montevideo.
Nacional president Ricardo Alarcon is also reportedly deep in discussion with Liverpool de Montevieo over an approach for 23-year-old Alfaro, who finished second top-scorer in the Apertura campaign and gained a call-up to the Celeste national set-up. The Uruguayans may have to fight Catania for his signature, however, as the Sicilians have identified the striker as a possible replacement for Maxi Lopez should the latter complete a move to AC Milan.
Meanwhile, Nacional's bitter rivals, Penarol, have set their sights on a striker of their own. The 48-times Uruguay champions are keen to add Benfica man Rodrigo Mora to their squad, and according to El Pais, the forward has returned to Portugal to negotiate his release. Mora moved to Lisbon from Defensor Sporting in 2011, but has not featured in the club's first-team plans, having played just 81 minutes with the club.
