Goal.com Poll Results: Cristiano Ronaldo defeats Lionel Messi in January Head-To-Head
Goal.com's Head-To-Head looks at how the votes were divided and view some of our fans' thoughts regarding the duo's performances across the month
Both players suffered varying form across the turn of the year, but Messi proved decisive with his double in the defeat of Real Betis at home, while striking a marvellous hat-trick in the away demolition of Malaga.
Ronaldo, meanwhile, netted against Athletic Bilbao and Zaragoza in key moments of both matches to ensure that Madrid maintained their superlative run of form in La Liga.
Goal.com readers were impressed enough with the Portugal international's displays during the month, and CR7 duly collected 4,944 (58.99%) of the votes, leaving Messi in his wake. The Argentine trailed with just 3,440 (41.01%) of readers voting in his favour.

But Ronaldo is the best at finishing, heading, skills, free kicks and long shots. And he's more effective, with more goals. Ronaldo can play great with any1, but Messi needs Barca.
Grinch, USA, on Goal.com: Messi's game against Malaga alone are better than anything CR7 has done. He can never do what Messi does, dribbling past several opponents at a time. Without penalties CR7 is nothing even if Messi missed 2. RM are awarded the highest penalties year after year.
Epivalley007, on Goal.com I know people will not admit Ronaldo was better this month..selfish Messi fans will want to deny the truth.
Lee, England, on Goal.com: Take a look at the statistics and the games then vote for right player, not ronaldo messi was better. Im not criticising ronaldo for his performance this month cus he was great but still not better, thats the difference.

Ab, on Goal.com: Messi misses penalties, no fan really cares. Cristiano scores them all and gets booed!
Helsea Ikwanga, on Facebook: CR7 knows how best to use dead balls while messi can do what he thinks with the ball and when.
