Serie A Preview: Milan - Atalanta
The Rossoneri will be confident of piling up more pressure on city rivals Inter.....

Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan.
Closing In On The Leadership
Some might suggest that Milan were fortunate to win against Fiorentina in midweek but scoring twice in the last 10 minutes did suggest the persistency of the Rossoneri. Those goals from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Alexandre Pato led il Diavolo to a remarkable 2-1 win against Fiorentina in Florence and pushed them to second in the Serie A standings, just four points behind leaders Inter.
At the moment Milan have 51 points from 25 matches and are a solitary point ahead of Roma, who are third. The Rossoneri's Champions League dreams for this season might have well flown out of the window with a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at home in the first leg of their round of 16 tie, but Scudetto triumph is still possible.
Leonardo's side will be confident of beating struggling Atalanta at home and piling up more pressure on city rivals Inter, who play away against Udinese on the same day.
Down....And Out?
Atalanta are second from bottom in Serie A with 21 points from 25 matches and are two points behind Livorno, who are 18th in the table. Last weekend the Orobici went down 1-0 to Chievo at home in what was their 14th loss in the league.
Atalanta have a poor away record too, having garnered only nine points on the road in the league. Moreover, they have won only once in their last five away matches, losing three of those games.
Getting something from their game against Milan at the San Siro is improbable, but this could be an advantage for the Nerazzurri as they will have nothing to lose against an in-form Milan side.

February 7 v Bari (H) - WON 1-0 (Serie A) January 31 v Sampdoria - LOST 2-0 (Serie A) TEAM NEWS Milan Onyewu, Seedorf and Antonini are out of the Sunday afternoon fixture while Thiago Silva and Gattuso appear to be struggling with injuries. Flamini is suspended. Probable Lineup (4-3-3): Abbiati, Abate, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Bonera; Beckham, Pirlo, Gattuso; Pato, Borriello, Ronaldinho Atalanta Barreto, Guarente and Amoruso are unavailable for the trip to Milan while Garics, Pellegrino, Capelli, Talamonti and Padoin are doubtful. Probable Lineup (4-4-1-1): Consigli, Capelli, Talamonti, Manfredini, Bellini; Ferreira Pinto, Padoin, De Ascentis, Valdes; Doni; Tiribocchi PLAYERS TO WATCH Ronaldinho (Milan) The Brazilian was again at the heart of all moves that Milan created against Fiorentina in midweek and gave both the assists for the goals. This season Ronaldinho has undergone a real resurrection and it is likely that he will torment Atalanta on Sunday afternoon. His link-up plays and through balls could easily destroy Atalanta beyond recognition.
Cristiano Doni (Atalanta) The Atalanta striker has scored twice and provided four assists in 21 Serie A matches he has featured in so far. Doni will play just behind the striker against Milan and it would be interesting to see how Nesta and Thiago Silva cope with him. PREDICTION Milan should win this game comfortably and put Inter under more pressure. Of course, this does not imply that the Rossoneri can take a laid-back approach as they have to be wary at the back, but Leonardo's side do have more than enough to smother the visitors. Milan 3-0 Atalanta
