Milan, Inter & Fiorentina Will Crash Out Of The Champions League - Luciano Moggi
Moggi says Italian teams in Europe face a bleak outlook...
By Salvatore Landolina
Milan welcome Manchester United and Fiorentina travel to Bayern Munich this week, whereas Inter play Chelsea next Wednesday.
But Moggi says Italian football, compared to England and Spain, has gone downhill, and the teams will struggle to move forward in Europe's elite competition.
"The Champions League returns this week and we will see that Italian football is not competitive on the international stage," he told Gold Sport.
"We will be lucky if we see one side making it through to the next round."
Moggi then spoke of refereeing mistakes in Serie A following another week of controversy. Juventus were awarded a debatable penalty against Genoa to win the game, whereas Inter were denied a certain one against Napoli.
All this tells Moggi that Calciopoli never existed.
"All the mistakes by refs? This affirms that football has always remained the same," he added.
"There were never any corrupt refs, and there aren't any now. And how can they talk about pre-determined yellow cards...look at what happened in the last three years, and then you will see what Calciopoli was built on."
