Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi has called for focus from his team as they prepare to meet Stuttgart in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie.

The champions travel to Germany for Tuesday's game at the Mercedes Benz Arena but the Argentine forward has stated that his team have no need to go crazy in the opener with a second leg to come at home.

"From now there is nothing easy. In one game you can get knocked out and we cannot afford to make mistakes, we must stay focused," he told AS.

"We'll play as usual, respecting the opponent, but we will go for the game. We know there is a return leg and will not go crazy. The important thing is winning. If I score that's fine, but the important thing is to go forward in the knockout rounds."
