Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw by VfB Stuttgart at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena in their round of 16, first-leg game in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The German outfit drew first blood in the 25th minute through Cacau but Zlatan Ibrahimovic equalised for the Blaugrana just seven minutes into the second half.

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta was playing higher up the pitch on the left side of a three-man attack in Germany on Wednesday evening and acknowledged that the Catalans had found Stuttgart a very tough opponent.

The Spain midfielder was quoted as saying by AS, "We knew that it would be complicated. It is always difficult to play here [in Germany]. We've had bad times but the goal was very important.

"We were losing the ball in dangerous areas and we had to correct that in the second half."
