| Sergio Sanchez looked accomplished on the right of the Malaga defence and could not be blamed for the 3-2 defeat to Real Sociedad as his side were still leading 2-1 when he was substituted with five minutes left. Chico was part of an improved Mallorca rearguard against Athletic Bilbao and made a key intervention as he cleared off the line in the dying seconds of their 1-1 draw. Espanyol lost 2-1 in Valencia but Hector Moreno should not take the blame, as the centre-back kept Aritz Aduriz quiet, pushed his team forward and bagged a goal. Marcelo showed yet more consistency for Real Madrid at left-back, as he scored his side’s third goal in a 3-0 away win against Sporting Gijon. | |||||

Barcelona duo Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas were the stars against Levante as the Spanish champions demolished the visitors 5-0 at Camp Nou. While the former created two of the goals, the latter bagged a brace and also featured in notable link-up play with Lionel Messi. Tino Costa continued to fill in admirably for Ever Banega in the Valencia line-up, proving to be creative and lively against Espanyol, scored from the penalty spot and assisting in Roberto Soldado’s winner. Angel Di Maria was Madrid’s outstanding player at El Molinon, scoring a brilliant goal and supplying an assist for Cristiano Ronaldo. |
