Jaroslav Drobnby gets an honourable mention, but this week's standout Bundesliga goalkeeper was Kevin Trapp, who heroically held Dortmund to just a single goal, making several phenomenal stops along the way as Kaiserslautern earned an improbable 1-1 draw away from home.

Arguably the most impressive defender of the matchday was Fabian Johnson, who assisted both of Vedad Ibisevic's goals as Hoffenheim beat Nurnberg 2-0 away from home. Also in Bavaria, Gibril Sankoh was in brilliant form for Augsburg as the promoted side earned a narrow 1-0 defeat against high-flying Monchenglabach. Schalke's Christian Fuchs gave the Gelsenkirchen side plenty of much-needed width as they earned a 2-1 away win over Hertha Berlin.

MIDFIELDERS

Philipp Bargfrede
Werder Bremen

Claudio Pizarro was the attacking inspiration, but Philipp Bargfrede was the defensive lynchpin for Bremen in their 4-1 win against Wolfsburg on Saturday. The midfield anchor was dominant in the centre of the park, protecting the Werder back four superbly as he limited the contribution of playmaker Florian Trinks.

Christian CLEMENS

Koln duo Christian Clemens and Slawomir Peszko earn top honours for their contributions in Saturday's 4-0 win over Freiburg. The former scored a brace - including a magnificent goal directly from a corner kick - while the latter gave two assists in an emphatic win. Olcay Sahan rounds off the attack midfield trio: the Kaiserslautern man cleared one shot off his own goal line and later scored a brilliant equaliser against Dortmund, earning a point for 1.FCK.

Mario Gomez also makes his long-awaited return to Team of the Week after he ended a goal drought with a brace against his former club Stuttgart, in a crucial match for Bayern Munich. Elsewhere, Vedad Ibisevic is included for scoring both of Hoffenheim's goals in their 2-0 win in Nurnberg, a result that ended a five-game losing streak away from home. Lukas Podolski rounds off the attack following yet another masterful display for Koln, which saw him increase his tally to 13 goals from 14 Bundesliga games. With Koln still yet to play two games before the winter break, he just might enter mid-season as the Bundesliga's top scorer.
