| Already one of Germany's finest goalkeepers at the age of 19, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen outshined Mannschaft No. 1 Manuel Neuer on Friday. Shortly after his team went ahead, the talented youngster made a wonder-save to deny Mario Gomez, and afterwards he kept his composure, claiming several crosses as Gladbach went on to earn a 3-1 win. |

| Like Ter Stegen, Roel Brouwers was on his best form in the win over Bayern. The Dutchman, deputising for defensive stalwart Dante, repeatedly denied Mario Gomez the chance to shoot. Nurnberg defender Philipp Wollscheid returns to the team of the week for his role in the Bavarians' 2-0 win over Hertha Berlin. The 22-year-old did very well in his marking of Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who barely got a touch. In Gelsenkirchen, Kyriakos Papadopoulos was arguably man of the match as Schalke moved level with leaders Bayern, earning a 3-1 win against Stuttgart. The Greek was excellent in defence, and scored a critical goal to put the game out of the visitors' reach. |

| Both Bender brothers played well this weekend, but Lars gets the nod over Sven in round 18. The tireless midfielder was extremely combative in the centre of the park, but his biggest impact on the game was a towering header that put Leverkusen ahead in their 3-2 win against Mainz. |

| Jakub Blaszczykowski was immense on Sunday as he deputised for Mario Gotze, scoring twice and assisting a goal in Dortmund's 5-1 rout of Hamburg. On the opposite wing, Kevin Grosskreutz put in a similarly impressive shift, scoring the opener and later earning an assist. Julian Draxler rounds off the attacking midfield trio. The 18-year-old was a second-half substitute, but turned the game decidedly in Schalke's favour as his side saw out a 3-1 win against Stuttgart. He earned an assist for Papadopoulos' strike, then started and finished a beautiful passing sequence with a well-taken goal. |

| Gladbach duo Marco Reus and Patrick Herrmann were simply outstanding in Friday's win against Bayern. The former's opener may have been rather fortuitous, but his assist to the latter was otherworldly. Herrmann was the man of the match, though, for running circles around Philipp Lahm and Holger Badstuber as he netted a brace. On Sunday, Robert Lewandowski picked up where he left off in December, leading the way with two goals and an assist in Dortmund's thumping of HSV. A dark horse for the honour of top scorer in the Bundesliga? Quite possibly. |
