Simon JENTZSCH
Augsburg
TOTW Apps: 2
| Though he was largely untroubled, Jentzsch came up big for Augsburg in the closing minutes of their scoreless draw with Monchengladbach. The veteran made two excellent key saves to deny Marco Reus and Roman Neustadter. |
|
|
Mensur MUJDZA Freiburg TOTW Apps: 1 |
Gibril SANKOH Augsburg TOTW Apps: 3 |
Holger BADSTUBER Bayern TOTW Apps: 2 |
||
| Caligiuri may have stolen the show, but Mujdza was commanding at the back in Freiburg's rout of Koln. The centre-back was a strong figure in defence, and even got forward to score. Sankoh has proven to be a surprise package this season for Augsburg, who confirmed their safety from relegation in Saturday's scoreless draw against Monchengladbach. The powerful centre-back kept Mike Hanke and Marco Reus in check, ensuring a clean sheet for FCA. Bayern shut out red-hot Stuttgart thanks in part to Badstuber, who maintained his strong run of form. The 23-year-old has been excellent lately, and his suspension will be a big loss in the Champions League final. |

| MIDFIELDERS |
Daniel CALIGIURI Freiburg TOTW Apps: 1 |
||||
| Caligiuri anchors an extremely attack-minded Team of the Week midfield after putting on a brilliant performance for Freiburg in their 4-1 win against Koln. From a wide berth, he played a role in nearly all of his team's attacking moves, scoring one and providing two assists. |

Thomas MULLER Bayern TOTW Apps: 4 |
RAUL Schalke TOTW Apps: 4 |
Ivan PERISIC Dortmund TOTW Apps: 1 |
||
| This season has been tough for Muller, but with the Champions League final just weeks away and his starting role apparently certain, the Germany international turned over a new leaf on Saturday. He pounced on his opportunity to intercept a back-pass and set up Mario Gomez for the opener against Stuttgart, then found the net for a late second goal. Raul bid farewell to his own fans at the Veltins-Arena, and did so in style as he delivered one last virtuoso performance for the home crowd. He was arguably the best player on the pitch when he scored and set up another goal as Schalke routed Hertha Berlin 4-0. This season has not been kind to Perisic, who has spent long spells on the sidelines. He was given his chance as a starter against Kaiserslautern, and showed the range of his skills. The Croatian attacker set up Lucas Barrios for the opening goal, and in the second half struck the post before finding the net again with a brilliant finish. |

| FORWARDS |
Lucas BARRIOS Dortmund TOTW Apps: 1 |
Klaas-Jan HUNTELAAR Schalke TOTW Apps: 5 |
Patrick HELMES Wolfsburg TOTW Apps: 3 |
||||
| He has been ignored for most of the season, but Barrios reminded Jurgen Klopp of his quality as he bagged a hat-trick to lead the way for Dortmund. If he goes to Guangzhou Evergrande this summer, as has been widely linked, he will be a considerable loss for BVB. Huntelaar edged ahead of Gomez in the Bundesliga scoring charts on Saturday as he scored two goals and gave an assist in Schalke's win. The Dutchman's double raised his tally to 46 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions this season. Two top-drawer finishes from Helmes lifted Wolfsburg to victory over Bremen in a match crucial for both sides' Europa League hopes. Like Barrios, the ex-Koln man has been linked with a departure from his club this summer - his performance in recent weeks could see him earn a very nice offer. |
