South Africa's Bernard Parker And Tsepo Masilela Hope For Easier Draw
Holland-based Bafana Bafana striker Bernard Parker has one wish for the World Cup Draw on Friday.
Speaking to KickOff.com Parker said the fact that Bafana has beaten the two countries would be an advantage for Carlos Alberto Parreira’s men.
“We have beaten both countries and drawing them in the group stage will augur well for us going through the next round,” he said.
Bafana beat New Zealand in the Confederations Cup in June this year and beat Paraguay last year in a friendly international. It was Parker who nailed the Kiwis coffin shut with a brace in their 2-0 win at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace.
Bafana beat Paraguay in Pretoria during Parreira’s first stint with the national side. Parker’s Bafana teammate and Israeli-based Tsepo Masilela told KickOff.com ahead of Friday’s World Cup draw and says Bafana’s draw is not as important as beating their opponents, no matter who they are.
“You can be drawn against a ‘small’ country and they beat you. What do you say then?” the Maccabi Haifa defender added.
