World Cup 2010: Erik Gerets A Candidate To Replace Vahid Halilhodzic As Ivory Coast Coach - Report
Les Elephants are reportedly thinking about replacing their coach ahead of the World Cup...
By Stefan Coerts
The Bosnian gaffer guided Les Elephants to the 2010 World Cup, but his position has come under fire after Ivory Coast failed to impress during the recent African Nations Cup.
Halilhodzic and his men were eliminated by Algeria in the quarter-finals and this didn't go down too well with the Ivory Coast Football Association.
A report earlier this week claimed that French manager Philippe Troussier was lying in pole position to coach Les Elephants at the World Cup, but the FA have now reportedly turned their attention to former Olympique Marseille coach Gerets.
However, it remains to be seen whether Al Hilal will allow Gerets to coach Ivory Coast. The Saudi Arabian side recently told the Moroccan FA that they will not let go of the Belgian gaffer.
