Al Sadd goalkeeper Mohamed Saqr was heroic as his side won the Asian Champions League on Saturday night.

The Qatar international made some stellar saves during the 120 minutes as his goal came under plenty of pressure from Jeonbuk Motors at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium, keeping the score tied at 2-2 after extra-time.

Then, during the penalty shoot-out, Saqr pulled off two saves to help Al Sadd win the game 4-2 on penalties and emerge victorious in the most prestigious club competition in Asia.

Ander Herrera – Athletic Bilbao

Ander Herrera was in inspired form for Athletic Bilbao over the past week as he played crucial roles in the Basque side’s performance both in Europe and in Spain. The 22-year-old scored the only goal against Salzburg in Austria in their Europa League clash on Thursday, which saw them reach the round of 32, and found the target with a neat finish against Barcelona on Sunday in their 2-2 draw in the Primera Division.

Jeremain Lens – PSV

Jeremain Lens scored a hat-trick and gave an assist to help PSV to a 4-1 win over Heracles in the Eredivisie on Sunday after coming off the bench at half-time when they were still 1-0 down.

Claudio Pizarro – Werder Bremen

Claudio Pizarro continued his great goalscoring form this campaign as he bagged a second-half hat-trick against Koln at home in the Bundesliga at the weekend to lead Werder Bremen to a 3-2 victory. He now has 11 goals in as many matches this season.

Billy Sharp – Doncaster Rovers

Billy Sharp lost his two-day-old son last Saturday but played for his club Doncaster Rovers against Middlesbrough on Tuesday in their 3-1 defeat in the Championship. He actually scored the opening goal in that game. Then, at the weekend, he scored again for Doncaster in their 3-2 away defeat of Ipswich Town and was given a standing ovation by the opposition fans after he scored.

Javier Zanetti – Inter

Javier Zanetti may be 38 but he is still as fit as a fiddle and a world-class player to boot. Last week the veteran Argentine exhibited his class again in Europe as he kept out Lille and Eden Hazard in his side’s 2-1 home win in the Champions League.
