Goal.com World Player of the Week #143: Kennedy Mweene
Club: Free State Stars
Country: Zambia
Age: 27
Role: Goalkeeper
Achievement: Gave a virtuoso performance in 2012 Afcon final
Zambia recorded a historic and emotional triumph at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, as they defeated tournament favourites Cote d'Ivoire 8-7 on penalties in the final following a goalless 120 minutes.
Goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene was the star of the show at Stade d'Angondje in Libreville as he kept the Ivorians at bay. He was formidable and strong between the posts and collected everything the opposition threw at him.
Then, during the penalty shoot-out the 27-year-old saved Kolo Toure’s spot-kick that eventually led to the Zambians first ever Afcon title.
Congratulations to Kennedy Mweene, Goal.com's 143rd World Player of the Week!

Honourable Mentions
Emmanuel Adebayor - Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur hammered Newcastle United 5-0 at White Hart Lane on Saturday to remain in the hunt to win the Premier League title, and Emmanuel Adebayor was the star of the show. The Togolese striker provided the assists for the first four goals and rounded up a sensational performance by grabbing the fifth.
Shahril Ishak - LionsXII Singapore
Shahril Ishak played impressive football and scored three goals in two games last week, and dragged his team LionsXII Singapore to fourth place in the Malaysian Super League. The famous and pulsating derby contest between Selangor FA of Malaysia and Singapore was renewed in midweek after an 18-year hiatus. Ishak netted LionsXII's only goal in the game, which ended 1-1. Three days later, he scored two as they outclassed the Malaysian Super League Charity Shield winners Negeri Sembilan 3-1.
Raul Garcia - Osasuna
Osasuna shocked Barcelona 3-2 in Pamplona in La Liga on Saturday and the man at the centre of this sensational triumph was Raul Garcia. On loan from Atletico Madrid, Garcia provided an assist and scored a goal against the Spanish champions and was always full of ideas and creativity.
John Guidetti - Feyenoord
John Guidetti scored a hat-trick for the third time in a row in home matches. After three goals against Twente (3-1 win), three against Ajax (4-2 win), he found the target thrice in the match against Vitesse (3-1 win). Thanks to him, Feyenoord are back in the race for the Eredivisie title.
Shinji Kagawa - Borussia Dortmund
Shinji Kagawa had two good games in the past week and scored in both of them. The Japan international midfielder was on target as Dortmund got the better of Holstein Kiel 4-0 in the DFB-Pokal quarter-final. Kagawa’s goal on 45 minutes proved to be the difference between BVB and Bayer Leverkusen at the Signal-Iduna-Park at the weekend, as the defending German champions carved out a 1-0 win in the Bundesliga.
Cristiano Ronaldo - Real Madrid
Cristiano Ronaldo was back to his majestic best against Levante as he grabbed a hat-trick in Real Madrid’s 4-2 victory at home on Sunday. It was the Portugal international attacker’s 13th hat-trick in a Madrid shirt and his third strike also marked the club's 4,000th league goal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Wayne Rooney - Manchester United
Wayne Rooney proved to be decisive in Manchester United’s clash with Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday as he scored both goals in the Red Devils’ 2-1 triumph at Old Trafford.
Samir Ujkani - Novara
Novara shocked Inter 1-0 at San Siro in Serie A on Sunday and Samir Ujkani was a key figure in the triumph. The Nerazzurri put pressure on Novara’s defence throughout but the Albanian goalkeeper thwarted all their efforts, making a world class save on Giampaolo Pazzini in injury time as well.
