Prandelli: If Cassano is ready for AC Milan then he is ready for Italy
The 54-year-old has confirmed that the Rossoneri forward is virtually assured of his place at Euro 2012 after a scintillating performance against Siena on Sunday
Italy boss Cesare Prandelli has declared his delight at the progress made by Antonio Cassano since the striker underwent heart surgery in November.
The Bari-born forward scored one goal and set up two more as AC Milan beat Siena 4-1 on Sunday. And the Azzurri coach was clearly pleased with the miraculous developments made by Cassano.
"I'm so glad he's back," Prandelli told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I didn't expect him to be back so soon.
"For Euro 2012, I will make my assessments. But if he is ready for [Milan coach Massimiliano] Allegri then he is probably ready for us.
"He has a contagious energy, although I do not think he has the fitness required to play 90 minutes consistently yet."
Italy are in Group C at Euro 2012, alongside Spain, Republic of Ireland and Croatia.
