Ghana are rated as even money favourites with Bet365 to win while the same firm offer 3/1 (4.0) on a Mali victory. The draw is rated as an 11/5 (3.20) chance.
Ghana must overcome the disappointment of a shock defeat to Zambia in Wednesday’s semi-final if they are to emerge victorious and with a squad packed with quality, including the likes of John Mensah, Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan, they are more than capable of doing so.
While much is known about Ghana’s qualities, especially following their heroic efforts in reaching the quarter-finals of World Cup 2010, the same cannot be said of Mali who, with the notable exception of Seydou Keita of Barcelona, are a side bereft of household names. Keita is available to back at 9/2 (5.50)
Nevertheless, Mali have shown great determination to reach their first semi-final since 2004, having failed to escape the first round of this tournament in their previous two attempts.
If Mali succeed on Saturday, they will make history as they have never finished any better than fourth in this competition, but a nation's expectation may hamper their hopes.
Pressure should prove no obstacle for Ghana and they represent terrific value at even money with Bet365 to bounce back from the heartache of that defeat to Zambia and snap up the scant consolation of third place.
When these two sides met in the group stages, Ghana ran out 2-0 winners and a repeat of that result on Saturday pays a handsome 13/2 (7.50) with Bet 365.
