Feyenoord coach Ronald Koeman has called for the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) to postpone this weekend’s matches because of the severe weather conditions across the Netherlands.

The KNVB has already postponed all six Erestedivisie matches that were scheduled to be played on Friday night but so far Twente’s clash against De Graafschap has been the only Eredivisie game to be called off this weekend with every other fixture scheduled to go ahead.

But Koeman believes the safety and welfare of fans is at risk under the current conditions and feels the KNVB should cancel all of the weekend’s matches.

“I think it is dangerous for spectators to sit in the stadiums in this weather,” the former Barcelona player told Feyenoord’s official website. “These conditions are extreme.”

Feyenoord are scheduled to travel to Nijmegen to face NEC on Sunday. The Rotterdam giants are currently sixth in the Eredivisie, seven points behind leaders PSV.
