Muricy Ramalho: Santos aren't ready for the Club World Cup
The Brazilian fears losing star players such as Neymar and Ganso during the summer and believes a formidable Barca team will be difficult to stop
By Patrick Devaney
The Brazilian side have qualified for the intercontinental event courtesy of last month's Copa Libertadores victory, but with transfer speculation constantly linking starlets such as Neymar and Ganso with big-money moves to Europe, Ramalho fears his side will be weakened before they get a chance to claim the world title.
''The Saints [Santos] are not ready for the World Cup, unfortunately. I have to tell the fans the truth. Neymar, Ganso and Elano, we are finding it hard to keep them but the board of Santos is doing their best,'' he admitted sincerely to the viewers of Sport TV.
''Barcelona are stepping up their preparations for the season. It's hard to beat them like that but imagine them strengthened?''
Despite winning South America's prominent club trophy, Neymar has reiterated his desire to remain with the Brazilian team despite attracting interest from Real Madrid, who are among a number of major European sides fighting for his signature, while AC Milan and Inter continue to be linked with a bid for Ganso.
Both stars are currently competing at this months Copa America in Argentina, and featured in the 0-0 draw with Venezuela on Sunday.
