Copa Libertadores champions Santos are reportedly negotiating with Real Madrid over the transfer of Neymar, but they will not consider a sale until the middle of 2012.

Globoesporte asserts that, despite reports in the Spanish press that the Sao Paulo club had rejected a €40 million offer for the 19-year-old, negotiations are still proceeding between Santos president Luiz Alfaro de Oliveira Ribeiro and his Spanish counterpart Florentino Perez.

In a meeting held on Wednesday, Ribeiro is believed to have set out his stipulations to the Madrid supremo. Santos would require the full €45m buy-out fee for Neymar's transfer, and would wish to release him only after the Olympic Games in London in June 2012.

It has been made public in recent weeks that this corresponds with Neymar's wishes, as he is determined to play the Club World Cup in December of this year.

The teenage sensation is currently playing in the Copa America for Brazil, and scored his first competitive international goals on Wednesday with a brace in the 4-2 victory over Ecuador.

Agent Wagner Ribeiro did address the press, however, and admitted that it was still unclear how Madrid would react to the idea of a delayed transfer.

"Real want an immediate transfer and I don't know what they would say if this doesn't happen," the representative stated.

"Will they pull out? I don't know. I just know that it is what Neymar wants, he dreams of being a world champion with Santos."

No one from Madrid has commented on the reported transfer negotiations, or if they would accept a year's delay in order to land the talented forward.
