(1) Internacional 3-1 Independiente (2): Internacional win 4-3 on aggregate

A stunning individual performance from Leandro Damiao was the key for Internacional as they lifted the 2011 Recopa Sudamericana, as the Brazilians turned around a narrow deficit from the first leg to break Independiente hearts and take the trophy.

2-1 down after the opener in Avellaneda, the Colorado levelled the tie after just 20 minutes thanks to Damiao. The 22-year-old striker waltzed past Gabi Milito on the right hand side before firing low past Hilario Navarro, squeezing the ball into the net from an acute angle. The youngster repeated his heroics just five minutes later to put the Brazilians into the ascendancy.

Argentine international Milito was once more Damiao's victim, as the forward chipped over the veteran's head to leave him clear through against Hilario. One on one there was no mistake, as the keeper was well-beaten with an immaculately placed shot to his left. Inter went into half-time 3-2 ahead on aggregate, and dreaming of a trophy to complement their 2010 Copa Libertadores triumph.

The Copa Sudamericana holders, however, were not finished. Just after the break Maxi Velazquez turned in from close-range to leave Muriel stranded in the Inter net, and the tie deadlocked. The minutes passed with neither side hitting a decisive strike, and extra time loomed.

In the 83rd minute the game reached its definition. Former Manchester City attacker Jo came off the bench and stormed into the area with a strong run, before being taken down by Navarro. It was a clear penalty, and full back Kleber sent the No. 1 the wrong way to roll the ball home and send the Porto Alegre crowd into ecstasy. Inter's win mean that they pick up their second Recopa and seventh international title, while Independiente miss out on a 17th gong in continental and world football.
