San Lorenzo chase Champions League reject Enzo Perez - report
The Argentine was not registered for the knockout stages of the competition by Benfica and San Lore will hope to take advantage by making a late bid for his services
The former Estudiantes man refused to turn up for training over the holiday period, as he chased a move back to San Lore following a disappointing start to his Benfica career. The move failed to materialise and Enzo returned to Portugal, but he was left out of the list of players registered to compete in the knock-out phase of the continental competition.
Ole subsequently reports that San Lorenzo president Carlos Abdo has personally taken charge of negotiations to bring Perez to Bajo Flores, most likely on a loan deal. Neither the player nor Benfica have commented on the rumours.
According to the newspaper, the Cuervo's efforts will be boosted by support from local television personality and San Lorenzo fanatic Marcelo Tinelli. The multi-millionaire is a confirmed admirer of Perez and could be prepared to invest part of his personal fortune in order to facilitate a transfer.
The 25-year-old lifted the Copa Libertadores in 2009 and the 2010 Apertura in Estudiantes colours, but has failed to establish himself in the Benfica first team since moving to Portugal in June 2011.
