Boca fans to Carlos Tevez: Leave the English, and come back over here
The controversial attacker visited the testimonial of club legend Martin Palermo, and received a warm welcome from the fans who asked for him to play in Argentina
By Stefan Coerts
The 27-year-old was expected to play alongside Palermo and other Boca Juniors legends in a match arranged in the retired goalscorer's honour, but Tevez eventually opted against featuring in order to avoid controversy.
Nevertheless, the striker entered the pitch at half-time, and Tevez's arrival was met with delight by the Boca fans.
"Leave the English, and come back over here!," chanted the Xeneixe' fans when the attacker walked onto the field.
Tevez was being linked with AC Milan, Inter and Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window, but stayed with City in the end. Brazilian club Corinthians, however, are still to rule out a late swoop for their former star, although City's financial demands have previously scuppered the chance of a return to South America.
